Vilas is an entrepreneur, technologist, and human rights advocate with a lifelong commitment to creating more robust, human-centered social institutions. Fusing his experience as a lawyer, an investor, and a philanthropist, he has dedicated his professional pursuits to exploring solutions for some of the world’s largest challenges like child labor, refugee crises, and data privacy and sovereignty.

A leading voice on equity in a tech-enabled world, Vilas champions a new social compact for the digital age that prioritizes individuals and communities in the development of new products, inspires economic and social opportunity, and empowers the most vulnerable. He is especially passionate about building public awareness about the potential opportunities and impacts of emergent technology on social infrastructure, corporate responsibility, and human behavior.

Vilas’ work has been published in the Harvard Business Review, Nature, The Independent, USA Today, Forbes, and Project Syndicate, addressing data for good, the role of philanthropy in AI, and how CEOs, policymakers, and civil society leaders can guide their organizations through the AI revolution. Vilas serves on the Advisory Council at the Stanford Institute for Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence (HAI), the Board of Directors at AccessLex, as Expert Contributor to OECD.AI, Co-Chair of the Global AI Action Alliance at the World Economic Forum, Advisor to MIT SOLVE, Director of the Network of Engaged International Donors, and as a Trustee of the Christensen Fund. He has been named a Young Global Leader and Global Shaper by the World Economic Forum, and has previously served as a Senior Fellow of the Berggruen Institute, the Gleitsman Fellow on Social Change at Harvard University, a Practitioner Resident on Artificial Intelligence at the Rockefeller Foundation’s Bellagio Centre, and an Entrepreneur-in-Residence at the University of Illinois.

Beena has been at the forefront of emerging technologies for some of the largest and most prestigious enterprises around the world. A computer scientist by education, she is an award-winning senior business executive with a career that has spanned leadership roles in finance, marketing, e-commerce, telecom, retail, software products, service, and industrial manufacturing domains with companies such as Deloitte, GE, HPE, BT, Bank of America, and numerous start-ups.

Beena is the founder of Humans for AI, a nonprofit focused on increasing diversity and inclusion. Beena has advised start-ups, taught as a professor, supported a variety of nonprofits, and served on several executive boards. In all these roles, she has helped organizations pursue tech transformations that deliver innovation, competitiveness in the marketplace, and the ethical use of emerging technology. Her work has been acknowledged with numerous awards, like the Women Super Achiever Award from World Women Leadership Congress and WITI’s Women in Technology Hall of Fame.

She is the author of the groundbreaking book Trustworthy AI, which helps businesses navigate trust and ethics in AI. Beena also serves on the Board of AnitaB.org and the Advisory Board at Cal Poly College of Engineering. She has been a Board Member and Advisor to several technology startups. Beena thrives on envisioning and architecting how data, artificial intelligence, and technology in general, can make our world a better, easier place to live for all humans.

Jeremy Jurgens is Managing Director & Head of the Forum’s Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution. He is responsible for the Member and Partner companies essential to the mission of the Forum as the International Organization for Public-Private Cooperation. His responsibilities include oversight of all industry initiatives, innovation and technology pioneer communities, the Forum’s offices in China, India and Japan as well as the Centre for Cybersecurity. He has served in various functions since 1999 including Chief Information Officer, Chief Representative China, the head of the Annual Meeting in Davos and the architect of the Forum’s Strategic Intelligence Platform. Prior to joining the Forum, Jeremy Jurgens has worked at Microsoft, Patagonia and the Japanese Ministry of Finance. He holds a Master in Education from Harvard University and a BA in Economics and International Relations, from Claremont McKenna College.

With more than thirty years of experience in the non-profit and philanthropic arena, Karen’s primary expertise is in non-profit finance, operations and strategy.  Prior to joining the Foundation, Karen was Director, Operations and Administration at the Klarman Family Foundation, a private family foundation located in Boston.  

Prior to her move to philanthropy, Karen served as Deputy Director and Chief Financial Officer for the Community Economic Development Assistance Corporation (CEDAC), and its affiliated organization, the Children’s Investment Fund.  During her tenure, Karen helped CEDAC scale lending operations by150% and expand the portfolio of loan products to meet the needs of nonprofit community developers and took the organization through its first external credit and impact rating process.  

Karen currently serves on the boards of directors of Philanthropy Massachusetts and the Boston Centre for the Arts.  She was honored as a 2014 Woman of FIRE (Finance, Insurance and Real Estate) by the publication Banker and Tradesman for her contributions to the field. 

Karen holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from the Catholic University of America and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a dual concentration in Public and Nonprofit Management and Finance and Economics from Boston University.

Satwik Mishra is a seasoned technology policy professional and AI scholar, holding a decade-long experience of influential contributions. His distinct passion for emerging technology has led him to various prestigious roles across policy startups, tech firms, and a notable position as the Monitoring and Evaluation Lead at NITI Aayog, Government of India’s premier think tank.

A product of Mumbai University, Satwik holds an undergraduate degree in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering. Further enhancing his expertise, he secured a master’s in public policy degree from Harvard Kennedy School. Here, his innovative research unlocked new perspectives on identity assurance and information integrity in the generative AI domain, offering invaluable insights into the benefits and risks linked to social media, generative AI, and assorted immersive metaverse technologies. 

Throughout his career, Satwik has spearheaded key projects, including developing an election participation application, leading the policy plan design for Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) in India, and crafting the Open Data Policy for Open Network for Digital Commerce in India.

A fervent advocate of trustworthy technology, Satwik champions the transformative potential of AI and emerging technologies on societal and business landscapes. He is committed to user empowerment and engagement by utilizing design thinking and engineering privacy-preserving technologies within technology products and services. 

Always interested and deeply passionate about emerging frontiers of technology and policy, Satwik eagerly engages and encourages dialogues on these ever-evolving realms.

Olivia is the Lead for Research and Content at the Centre, bringing diverse experience from the private, non-profit, and think tank sectors, with a focus on cybersecurity, artificial intelligence (AI), counterterrorism, and geopolitical risk. She has successfully led complex research projects across a wide range of policy issues, delivering strategic insights that empower organizations, business leaders, and governments to formulate effective, evidence-based policies.

Throughout her career, Olivia has been instrumental in developing prominent indices such as the Global Peace Index, Global Terrorism Index, Asia Power Index, Mexico Peace Index, and Ecological Threat Register. With a background in peace and conflict, her research is dedicated to using data-driven methods to guide the responsible development of emerging technologies to create inclusive, peaceful, and prosperous societies.

She holds a Master’s Degree in International Affairs from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA) and graduated with first-class honors in International Relations from King’s College London.

Helene is a senior research associate with the Centre and a graduate student at Johns Hopkins University, studying biomedical engineering with a concentration in neuro-engineering. 

She began her career in blockchain, working across business development, growth, and product to validate and scale Web3 start-ups. Before leaving this industry, she was a research associate with the premier cryptocurrency research firm, Messari. 

Her primary research focuses include artificial intelligence in medicine, synthetic biology, and other advancements in bioengineering. She’s particularly interested in neurotechnology, like brain-computer interfaces, and is a member of the student and postdoc committee at the Brain-Computer Interface Society. In addition to being a passionate emerging technologies researcher, she’s a finalist for Miss Maryland USA and an art history buff who dreams of becoming an art collector.
